Robin G. Lorenzen, age 57, of Battle Creek, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE due to unexpected surgical complications.
Born February 5, 1957 to Meredith (Whitehouse) and Bob Lorenzen, she was raised on the family farm. Robin graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1975 and went on to study at the University of South Dakota, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Science and Medical Technology. Throughout her career, Robin worked as a medical technologist in the laboratory at Marian Health Center in Sioux City, taught medical technology courses at USD in Vermillion, SD, and for the last 22 years she worked at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove as the Director of Laboratory Services and most recently as the Infection Prevention Coordinator.
Robin was baptized, confirmed, and served her Lord faithfully in many capacities as a devoted member of the First Presbyterian Church in Battle Creek. Robin was ordained an Elder in 1997 and was currently serving her fourth term on the Session. She loved offering the children's sermon during worship service to share her love of the Lord with the kids. Robin was known for her strong Christian faith and love of family.
Though Robin never had children, she loved her nieces and nephews as a mother loves her own. They often turned to her for a listening ear, and benefitted greatly from her wisdom and guidance. Robin could often be found sitting around the campfire at the lake, shopping with her aunts and nieces, hosting 'girl's only slumber parties', antiquing, and vacationing. Regardless of the nature of the activity, it always involved friends, family and a zest for life. Robin's greatest qualities include having an innate ability to teach without preaching, loving unconditionally, and she was known most for her infectious spirit, smile and laughter.
Left to cherish her memory include: siblings Deborah (Furman) Cummings of Tallahassee, FL; Rick (Nancy) Lorenzen of Anthon; Dan Lorenzen of Battle Creek and special friend Vicki Blatchford; 3 nieces Dana (Tom) Grafft, Toya Lorenzen and special friend Tyler Farrell, Jennifer (Jeremy) Meyer; 5 nephews Joshua (Rebecca) Cummings, Major Justin (Kari) Cummings M.D., Matthew Lorenzen and fiance Crystal Burgett, Cody Lorenzen and special friend Danielle Corbin, Josh Jensen; great nieces and nephews Tayler, Chloe, DeSean, Dante, Kinnick, Karver, and David; aunts Evelyn Mooney and Cynthia (Morris) Mooney and uncle George Whitehouse; special friend Frank, as well as other extended family members and close friends.
Robin was preceded in death by her parents Bob and Meredith Lorenzen, uncle John "Jack" Whitehouse, niece Mindy Jensen.

Condolences
I was so sorry to hear of Robin's passing and so very surprised. Even though we have not kept in touch for many years, we had some great times living together in an old house in Sioux City for 7 years! She was always fun and a hard worker. She was a great animal lover too as we both had our cats. Thinking of all and knowing Robin is in a good place. My sympathies to all,
Pam Miller-Smith”
I was so sorry to learn of Robin's death. Many of my fondest childhood memories are of spending time with Robin and your family; slumber parties, riding bikes, swimming at the "Pit", playing on the farm, playing cards, school activities. We had such fun! Though we haven't had contact for years it sounds like she was still that fun-loving wonderful person. Unfortunately she passed too soon and your family has suffered a great loss. I feel very fortunate to have known Robin. She will not be forgotten and her love for her family and friends will live on through each of you. Take care of yourselves.
With all my sympathy and warmest thoughts -- Natalie Petersen Coubrough”
