Warren served as the Staff Sgt., in the 85th Recon. of the U.S. Army from May 21, 1942 until November 2, 1945. He fought in North Africa and Italy during World War II. His grandchildren include 3 adult grandsons, Charlie, Henry, and John, and a step- granddaughter, Elizabeth.

After his discharge from the U.S. Army in 1945, Warren began farming North of Arthur, Iowa. He added to the “home” 80 acres by purchasing an additional 290 acres. Warren was a skilled cattle feeder and grew his fat cattle operation to a routine number of 400 per year and occasionally fed up to 550 head per year.

“Dear Neal Family, Received an email from Judy Fineran about your dad. My folks have been gone for eleven years. It has been a long time since we were all neighbors.
Pat, our 50th class reunion is in June during Odebolt Creek Days. There does not seem to be many classmates that will attend. It will be difficult for Judy and me without Virginia.
Thinking of you. Carol”

“Growing up in Arthur, everybody knew Warren. I walked beans for Warren my entire childhood and also had the pleasure of serving his coffee while working at the Arthur Cafe. He was always so pleasant! I was his "little Jeannie".... He was a great man, a man of character and pride. I have thought of him often over the years and as a matter of fact, I had just asked Mom (Shirley) about him the other day when we were cruising the old neighborhood. My deepest sympathy to Warren's family. He will be dearly missed by many! Jean”
