Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Kevin J. Freese will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 1, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Becky A. (Volkmann) Petersen-Brewster was born on April 16, 1984 to Walter and Jean (McGuire) Volkmann in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Becky grew up and attended school in the Boone, Iowa area before she moved to Ida Grove, Iowa, where she graduated from Battle Creek- Ida Grove High School.
After high school she attended some college courses in Fort Dodge, Iowa before she met Jason Petersen. The couple were united in to marriage at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. Jason adopted Austin and Alex and the couple were blessed with Blake and Kylie.
The couple later parted ways. Becky met and married Paul Brewster in Denver, Colorado on September 13, 2014. Becky became the step mother to Lexie Brewster and Tara Lyon.
Becky worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She worked at Good Samaritan in Holstein, Iowa and Park View Care Center in Sac City, Iowa.
Becky enjoyed, social media, bowling, going for a drive, watching movies, attended her son Blake’s wrestling, girl’s day out of shopping, but the true love of her life was her children and family.
Left to cherish her memory are husband Paul Brewster of Sac City, Iowa; children, Austin Petersen of Ida Grove, Iowa; Alex Petersen of Boone, Iowa; Blake Petersen of Ida Grove, Iowa; Kylie Petersen of Ida Grove, Iowa; mother, Jean Volkmann of Boone, Iowa; father, Walter Volkmann of Colorado; step-daughters, Lexie Brewster of Sac City, Iowa; Tara Lyon of Arkansas; step grandchildren, Aiden Lyon and Avery Sparks of Arkansas; uncles, Mike McGuire of New Hamshire and Mark McGuire of Battle Creek, Iowa; grandmother, Betty Oberreuter; and Jason Petersen of Ida Grove, Iowa; along with many family and friends.
Becky was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Bill Oberreuter, paternal grandparents Hazel and LeRoy Volkmann, and good family friend Lane Marten.
