Victor “Vic” E. Jepsen, age 87, of Battle Creek, Iowa passed away on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Iowa. The Reverend Kevin J. Freese will officiate. Burial will be in Morgan Township Cemetery of Schleswig, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa. Victor “Vic” Jepsen was born on November 7, 1927 in the Hanover Township area in Schleswig, Iowa to Herman and Dora (Beck) Jepsen.

Vic attended country school in Schleswig and after school continued to work on the family farm. He met Shirley Mae Sherman and the couple were united into marriage in Schleswig, Iowa on December 5, 1948.

Vic and Shirley settled in Sioux City, Iowa where they farmed. The couple were blessed with five children; Christine, LaRoy, Russell, Vicky, and Mark.

Over the years Vic worked various jobs, you could say he was a jack of all trades and that moved the family around the Iowa area.

Vic and Shirley retired to Battle Creek, Iowa in 1996. Vic was a faithful and active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Iowa as well as a Lions Club member.

He enjoyed; hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, gardening, playing cards, and having coffee with friends.

Vic was a family man that took great pride in being a father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He also had a soft spot for his little Yorkie Poo Roxie.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Christine (Mike) McAndrews of Blencoe, Iowa; LaRoy (Judy) Jepsen of Shawboro, North Carolina; Russell (Diane) Jepsen of Hastings, Nebraska; Vicky (Mike) Seifert of Veyo, Utah; Mark (Alesia) Jepsen of Combs, Arkansas; eighteen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren; brother, Edwin (Marilyn) Jepsen of Denison, Iowa; sister-in-law, Diane Jepsen of Ricketts, Iowa; special friend Wanda Cooper of Battle Creek, Iowa; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Dora Jepsen; loving wife, Shirley Jepsen (August 20, 2009); brothers, Fred, Herman, and Vernon Jepsen; sister, Irene (Jepsen) Abbe; and one granddaughter, Viola Jepsen.
