Jonathan Lester Siebrecht was born on a Monday morning, February 4, 1980 in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Lester and Linda (Bofenkamp) Siebrecht. He became a big brother to Vicki in 1981, and later a brother-in-law when she married Chad Smith, and an uncle to their children, Blake and Colton.

Jon was a member of the Odebolt United Methodist Church. Jon married Sarah Thompson in 2004. One of Jon’s proudest moments is when the couple was blessed with a daughter, Allison Lynn Siebrecht. The couple later parted ways.

There are so many memories of Jon. Some of you have known him since birth. Many of you met him later through school days at Odebolt- Arthur School or Iowa State University. He may have been your neighbor or possibly a co-worker through the various jobs he had, his latest being Pioneer Hi-Bred in Orange City.

Jon first started having symptoms of pneumonia in November of 2012. Later that month, he was diagnosed with Epithelioid Angio Sarcoma. Jon lived his life to the fullest and loved those around him. He would do anything he could for you when asked or he saw something he could help with. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and going on various adventures with family and friends, taking boat rides at his family’s lake home in Okoboji, farming, relaxing at the Lakes with family, and especially spending time with his daughter Allison.

Jon enjoyed playing cards, and playing games with his daughter Allison. He was very competitive and never one to just let you win. Allison was always super thrilled when she could beat her dad at a game they were playing. Others of us, when playing cards, learned not to sit across from Jon with a window behind us, as he always seemed to win; he just smiled when we would realize the reflection from the window helped him win.

Jon will be remembered as a quiet, honest man. He was a great father, brother, son, uncle, and friend.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving daughter, Allison Siebrecht of Newell, Iowa; parents, Lester and Linda Siebrecht of Odebolt, Iowa; sister, Vicki and her husband Chad Smith of Wayne, Nebraska; nephews Blake and Colton Smith of Wayne, Nebraska, and many family and friends.

Jon was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lloyd and his wife Lois Siebrecht and Arthur and his wife Beverly Bofenkamp.

“I had the privilege and pleasure of working with Jon during his time at Iowa State. He was as good as they come. A hard worker and a pleasure to work with. Equally important, just a fun guy to be around. My deepest sympathy to his family.”

“We both knew Jon from working with him at KMR in Carroll. When you spend as much time on the road as we did you learn a lot about the people you are with. I learned that Jon loved his daughter more than anything else. He would give the shirt off his back to you if it would help, he was hard working and most of all he could get out of a ticket from a Minnesota state patrol officer like no other. I know Jon lived a good honest life and he is smiling down on us right now. You are missed my friend!!!!”

“Though I knew Jon for a short time during college, he left a last impression on me. In this tough time, I hope that his family and close friends can take comfort in remembering the hard working and fun loving man he was. His positive nature always brought a special levity to whatever he was.”

“I was so lucky to have met Jon through Pioneer. The Orange City crew came to Algona one spring to help us. It was so much fun working with Jon. He would help out wherever needed and never once complained, so willing to learn. A strong man with a gentle heart. You should be very proud. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this very difficult time.

“Jon was a very good friend throughout our high school days and there are so many memories. Jon was the most honest, sincere man I ever met. He was always there to pat you on the back when you did something good and he was still there to pat you on the back when you did something wrong. I remember trying to guard Jon on the court and it was a hard task because he was so competitive and 100 mph all the time, and he also sweat by the bucket loads, soon you didn't have anything to dry off with. Every Thursday night after Football practice we would hop in Jon's z71 pickup and go out and sit in the hot tub, find one of Lester's cans of cola and watch Thursday night football on ESPN, play a round of PGA golf on the Mac then head into watch Vicki play volleyball! Jon will be sorely missed and my prayers and thoughts are with Lester, Linda, Vicki, and Allison. God Bless! ”

“Jon was one of the first few individuals hired as we opened our new Corn Research Center in Orange City, Iowa. He was a key and integral part of the very hard working team we established in NW Iowa. Even though he was new to the organization, he faced every challenge head on and was committed to finding the best way to get the job done with the people and equipment and skills available. It was truly a pleasure to get to know Jon, our only regret is the shortness of our time having him as an employee.

My heartfelt condolences go out to Jon's family and friends.
