Since Velma, Kenneth and Dennis with family in 1974 visited us in Denmark Velma has been tireless in work to stay connected to Kenneth's relatives at right. Countless her beautifully handwritten letters that vividly told about everyday life at home in Ida Grove. The last letter was dated 16 March 2016. We are grateful for every word and grateful for the hospitality when some Danes came to visit.
Glory be Velma´s memorial.

Your mother and father were among the first people I met when I came to Siouxland and KTIV. I wasn't even on the air yet when I went to Ida Grove one evening to speak to the Emerald Club at the bank. During my presentation the first Gulf War broke out that night of January 16, 1991. We all sat in amazement and fear as we watched CNN and the bombing of Baghdad live. We remained friends and pen pals ever since (I was always amazed at Velma's remarkable penmanship!) And I always knew if something big or important was happening I could count on a phone call from my Ida Grove "reporter." Your mother was a gem who will be missed by the entire community, her many friends, and family.
My deepest sympathy,

Your dear Mom as a pillar of the community! I will always remember her guidance in 4-H when she was one of our leaders. She was such an upbeat, positive and interested person! Always wanting to know about our lives and so sincere! She was very proud of you boys and your accomplishments.
She will be missed. May you all be comforted by your memories.
Sincerely,
Connie”
