Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 04, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Richard A. Salcido will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted at the church by the McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion of Ida Grove. Burial will follow in the Storm Lake Cemetery of Storm Lake, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 03, 2016, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home, of Ida Grove, Iowa. Robert D. “Bob” Lovett the son of William and Velma Lovett was born on February 27, 1922 in Lake City, Iowa. He graduated from Lake City High School in 1940, after which he went into the service during World War II. He served two and half years in the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.
After returning home, Bob married the love of his life Roma Elaine Clark on December 20, 1944. Bob and Roma moved to St. Louis Missouri where Bob attended and graduated from the college of Mortuary Science. The couple moved to Lake City where Bob was employed at a funeral home. He also owned and operated a furniture store with his wife Roma.
In 1959 they decided to purchase a Culligan Water Conditioning business in Ida Grove, Iowa. They have lived and operated the business for more than fifty years. Bob and Roma were blessed with a son, Terry who was involved in Culligan and lives in Ida Grove.
Bob enjoyed golfing and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Velma Lovett; sister, Marge (Dick) Hanson; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Lovett; and grandson-in-law, Scott Mandernach.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of over 71 years, Roma Lovett of Ida Grove, Iowa, his son Terry Lovett of Ida Grove, Iowa; granddaughters, Kelli Lovett of Vermillion, South Dakota and Mindi Mandernach of Odebolt, Iowa; great grandchildren: Austin Reich, Alexis Reich, Karlie Mandernach, Clayton Mandernach, Kacie Mandernach; and many friends and extended family.
