Henry Paul DeMey Jr., age 80, of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Sierra Care Center of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 30, 2016, in the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. Pastor Trish Underberg will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. Military Rites will be conducted by the Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion. Henry Paul DeMey, Jr. was born on June 1, 1935, in Denison, Iowa to Henry Paul DeMey, Sr. and Adela Ann (Meggers) DeMey.
He enlisted into the United States Army in June of 1953, where he obtained his GED and completed school to become a Medic. Henry served his country as a Medic until he was honorably discharged in June of 1956.
On June 17, 1962, Henry was united into marriage to Donna R. Buehler of Odebolt, Iowa. After he married he was employed by Safety Service in Omaha, Nebraska. Henry was a member of the American Lutheran Church. He returned to Dow City and purchased the Farmers Elevator Mill with his brother, Bob.
Working in construction until he became self-employed, Henry built dams and did other dozer work.
Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Paul DeMey, Sr. and Adela Ann DeMey; sisters, Marcella (Dale) Millard, Rose Mary (Fred) Spreng, Lauretta (Wayne) Malone, Betty (Alvin) Patchin; brothers, Robert DeMey, Edward DeMey, Donald DeMey, and Delmare DeMey; sister-in-law, Audrey Stehr; and brother-in-law, Darrel Buehler.
He is survived by his wife Donna DeMey of Odebolt; sisters, Ellen Brink of Dow City, Sharon (Dick) Cue of Dunlap; brother, Jack (Janice) DeMey of Denison; sisters-in-law, Gwen DeMey of Dow City, Jean DeMey of Carroll, Marilyn DeMey of Missouri, and Pat DeMey of Denison; brother-in-law, Lester (Frieda) Stehr of Odebolt; special friends, Jim and Dee Langenfeld; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
