Marvin L. Brookbank was born on August 10, 1940, in Ida Grove, Iowa, to Clarence and Mae (Welding) Brookbank. He was baptized and confirmed in the Saint John’s Lutheran Church of Storm Lake, Iowa.
Growing up in Ida Grove, Marvin attended Ida Grove Public Schools. On November 8, 1959, Marvin was united into marriage to the love of his life Judith Kay Sander, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Schleswig, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Debby, Leesa, and Michael.
For 20 years Marvin was employed as a meat cutter at various locations for Fareway Grocery Stores. After relocating to Gillette, Wyoming, Marvin continued cutting meat for Albertson’s for 25 years.
Marvin liked, river fishing, gardening, the Chicago Bears, and looking after his lawn and flowers while enjoying the great outdoors. He enjoyed taking camping trips in a tent to Deadwood and Keyhole South Dakota; along with a nice long drag and a cold beverage after a long day. His true treasure in life was his family. Marvin adored his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. His great-grandsons: Carver, Sawyer, and Leo, could always bring a chuckle or smile to his face, even during his short, courageous fight with brain and lung cancer.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 56 years, Judi (Sander) Brookbank of Ida Grove, Iowa; children: Debby (Brent) Cooper of Grinnell, Iowa, Leesa (Mike) Johnston of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and Michael Brookbank of Grinnell, Iowa; grandchildren: Rory Johnston (Jamie Rae), Kyle Johnston (Jamie Leigh), Megan Anderson (Nate), Caleb Johnston, and Jordan Johnston; great- grandsons: Carver, Sawyer and Leo Johnston; brothers: Don (Kathy) Brookbank and Darold “Cork” (Eileen) Brookbank; sisters: Shirley (Fiancé Earl Curtis) Danielson, Sharon (Charlie) Ziegmann; and numerous nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
