In Memory of Victoria Lyn "Vicki" Rodgers
Victoria Lyn “Vicki” (Obman) Rodgers, was born on February 16, 1955 to parents Myrna and Donald Obman in Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. She passed away on June 29, 2016 at Twilight Acres Nursing Home.
She was baptized in May of 1955 in the Peace Lutheran Church of Wall Lake. Her sponsors were her Aunt Janette Fredrichs and her Uncle Darrel Obman. Vicki attended grade school and high school in both Wall Lake Public School and Lake View-Auburn, graduating with honors at Lake View-Auburn in 1973. In August of 1973 she enrolled in Patricia Stevens Career College in Omaha, NE, graduating as EXECUTIVE SECRETARIAL on August 18, 1974.
In June of 1974, Vicki and Michael Stewart were united in marriage at the Presbyterian Church in Auburn, IA. Two children were born of this union. Tommy Dean on October 12, 1974 and Sonya Rae on September 22, 1978. Vicki did secretarial work for the Howard Activity Center in Sac City from 1974-1976. In 1976, she was hired by Verna Frank in Carroll, IA to do taxes until 1982. In 1982, she was hired by Krudico, Inc. and later in the year moved to Lake View with her two children. She also took on the job of treasurer for the Lake View weekly bingo, which was started by her mother.
On December 23, 1988, she was joined in marriage to Duane Grafft at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View with the Rev. Herman Kramer officiating. She was escorted down the aisle by her father, Donald Obman and step father, Gary Kruse. Their three children were their attendants; Johnathan Grafft and Tom and Sonya Stewart. They made their home in Coin, IA. Duane adopted Tom and Sonya in 1989. Vicki began doing crafts, working out of her home. She sold these crafts on consignment in Clarinda, IA and Maryville, MO. In 1997, Vicki and Duane moved to Sac City due to the health problems that Duane was having with Multiple Sclerosis, and Vicki opened a craft shop in their home. Vicki was employed again by Krudico. Inc.
In February of 2002, Vicki moved to McKinney, TX, and worked for Jackson-Hewitt doing taxes. In 2003, she was employed by Wal-Mart and was transferred to Fountain, CO, after moving there on December 31, 2004.
Vicki was united in marriage to Chris Rodgers on April 22, 2006, in Las Vegas, NV. Her sister and brother-in-law, Kris and Paige Busch, were the attendants. They purchased a home in Fountain, CO, and she helped her husband start his own business, CRX Commercial Appliances, where she did the bookkeeping. Vicki began her own business on the internet, Vic Sews, using Etsy and Ebay as her selling platforms. She sold her crafts domestically and internationally to customers from Australia, United Kingdom, Greece, Netherlands, and Canada to name a few. Her hobbies were her crafts, collecting antiques, counted cross-stitching, and she was an avid reader.
Those remaining to cherish her memory include her two children: son, Tom (Dana) Grafft, and daughter, Sonya Grafft (Mike Thomas); her seven grandchildren; her mother and stepfather, Myrna & Gary Kruse; her sisters: Kris (Paige) Busch, Kelly (Tom) Pimley, and Kami Obman; her brother: Kary Obman; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Those preceding her in death are her father: Donald Obman; her brothers: Rodney and Scott; stepfather: Kenneth Auen; her grandparents: Scott and Elna Hoaglund, Ferd and Elizabeth Obman, and Henry and Evelyn Auen; her uncle: Scotty Hoaglund; her aunt: Norma Obman; and her cousin: Jann Meyer.
The family will be holding the Celebration of Life for Vicki at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View, IA, on Sunday, July 17th, from 5:00-7:00pm.
