Richard “Dick” Earl Pfleeger, 69, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 18, 2016.  He was born on November 26, 1946, in Battle Creek, Iowa to Earl E. and Arvilla L. (Hein) Pfleeger.

Growing up in Ida Grove, Dick attended and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1965. During high school Dick worked at the local creamery and helped at his father’s auto body shop.

On July 11, 1970, Dick was united into marriage to the love of his life Connie J. Nepper at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. The couple made their home in Ida Grove and were blessed with two sons, Chad and Eric.

Dick worked at Midwest Industries in Ida Grove for over 40 years, retiring from the Research and Development Department in 2009. After retiring Dick and Connie spent winters in Mesa, Arizona, where they met many new friends. They enjoyed dancing and playing aggravation, billiards and shuffle board.

Dick was a loving father to his boys and never missed the opportunity to instill great values and character in his sons. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with them and cheering them on while attending wrestling meets.

He loved camping, black powder shooting, taking long walks on the bike trail, and playing cards with family and friends. He and his wife enjoyed visiting all 99 counties in Iowa on his Harley-Davidson Road King motorcycle and riding with the N.W. IOWA R.I.D.E.R.S bike club.

Dick was a devout Catholic and missed his role as a Eucharistic minister when he became ill.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Connie, and sons; Chad of Chicago, Illinois, and Eric of Ames, Iowa; brother, Roger (Karen) of Hinton, Iowa;  sisters-in-law, Ellen of Ida Grove; Gwen of Ida Grove; Barb of Arthur, Iowa: and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Earl E. and Arvilla L. Pfleeger and brothers Eldon, Lyle, and Gary.
