Growing up in Ida Grove, Dick attended and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1965. During high school Dick worked at the local creamery and helped at his father’s auto body shop.
On July 11, 1970, Dick was united into marriage to the love of his life Connie J. Nepper at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove. The couple made their home in Ida Grove and were blessed with two sons, Chad and Eric.
