In Memory of Beverly Mae Fulton
Beverly Mae Fulton, age 84, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away with her daughters by her side on Saturday, September 17, 2016, at the Morningside Healthcare Community, of Ida Grove, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 22, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Richard A. Salcido will officiate, with committal services following at the Ida Grove Cemetery, of Ida Grove, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. On September 22, 1931, Beverly Mae Fulton, the daughter of Harley and Elsa (Gleesing) Burk, was born in Battle Creek, Iowa, at the Hartley Memorial Hospital. She was baptized into her faith at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Battle Creek, Iowa, and later confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa, on March 25, 1945.
Beverly attended rural country school and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1949. On July 14, 1950, she was united into marriage to George Fulton in the Calgary Lutheran Parsonage of Sioux City, Iowa. The couple were blessed with three children, Connie, Sue Lynn, and Keith. Beverly raised her family five miles north of Arthur, Iowa, on the family farm.
Besides being a dedicated farm wife and mother to her children, Beverly worked outside the home as a CNA at Horn Memorial Hospital, a receptionist for optometrist Dr. Pete Danhoff, and a secretary for sheriff Don Gebers at the Ida Co. Sheriff’s Office. George and Beverly, also, owned and operated The Camelot in Ida Grove, Iowa. You might remember Beverly as your favorite bartender at Sportsman’s or your home interior representative. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing cards and caring for her flowers. Beverly was a 4-H leader, a volunteer for the Horn Memorial Hospital and Morningside Care Center Auxiliaries, active in Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school, and treasured spending time with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Connie (John) Werner of Holstein, Iowa, Sue (Steve) Kay of Holstein, Iowa, and Keith (Carolyn) of Sebastopol, California; grandchildren, Joshua (Amelia) Werner, Jeremy (Laura) Fulton, Alexander Fulton and fiancé Jessica Rhodes; great grandchildren, Hailey Fulton, Chelsey Fulton, and Jillian Fulton; brother-in-law, Donald Riessen of Ida Grove, Iowa; sister-in-law, Sheila Rohlk of Ida Grove, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and her nursing home family.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Harley and Elsa Burk; husband, George Fulton; parents-in-law, James and Ellen Fulton; sister-in-law, Janet Riessen; brother-in-law, Delbert Rohlk; in laws, Elizabeth and William Ullrich; nephew, Jim Ullrich, great nephew, Jimmy Ullrich, great great nephew, Lathan Rohlk; and beloved poodle, Benji.
