In Memory of Karen Kay Yates
Karen K. Yates the daughter of Walter and Elsie (Ehler) Bugge was born on September 9, 1942. She grew up in Ricketts, Iowa and graduated from Ricketts High School with the class of 1960.
After school Karen and some friends went to work as telephone operators. She was transferred to Chicago where she met the love of her life Donald E. Yates. Karen and Donald exchanged wedding vows on February 25, 1962, in Ricketts, Iowa. They made their home in Galva, Iowa, where they resided for many years and were blessed with three children, Michael, Barbara, and Jason.
Staying home while her children were young, Karen started working outside the home driving the special education bus for Galva –Holstein School for several years. Later she became employed with Good Samaritan Society of Holstein working in the dietary department.
Karen enjoyed cooking, baking, visiting with friends and family, word searches, and gardening. She also had a profound love for cats.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving children, Michael Yates of South Sioux City, NE, Barbara Yates of Sac City, Iowa, and Jason Yates of Des Moines, IA.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Walter and Elsie Bugge and loving husband, Donald E. Yates.
