Eugene Joseph Moser, age 94, of Danbury, Iowa, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016 at his residence of Danbury, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa. The Father Dan Greving will officiate, Military Rites will be conducted by Carlson-Frum #336 of the American Legion of Danbury, Iowa. Burial with take place at a later date. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:45 p.m. conducted by the Knights of Columbus, followed by the Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M., Monday, October 24, 2016, at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa. Eugene Joseph Moser was born on August 20, 1922, in Osmond, Nebraska, to Carl and Rose (Petsche) Moser. The family made their home in Bloomfield, Nebraska, where Eugene enjoyed the farm and attending school.

The family moved to a farm by Danbury, Iowa, and at the age of twenty Eugene was drafted during WWII in to the United States Army. Stationed overseas through six invasions after four years of devoted service to his country, Eugene was honorably discharged.

He returned to Danbury, Iowa, and worked as a mechanic at Carl Moser implement with business in Battle Creek and Danbury.

On November 27, 1945, Eugene was united into marriage to Mary Rosauer in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa. The couple made their home in Battle Creek, Iowa, and were blessed with four children, Dewayne, Lorraine, Lois, and Tim.

In 1948, Eugene started farming north of Danbury, Iowa and then later moved to a farm south of Danbury where enjoyed farming up until his retirement. Eugene was a John Deere Tractor man. The history, restoring, tinkering, and searching for these tractors were Eugene’s true passion.

A faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, Iowa, Eugene was member of the Knights of Columbus, Carlson-Frum Post #336 of the American Legion of Danbury, and the 2 Cylinder Club.

He is survived by his wife Mary Rosauer Moser of Danbury, Iowa; children, Lorraine Lund (Randy Seiss) of Harbor Springs, Michigan, Lois (Roger) Spaulding of Battle Creek, Iowa, Tim (Sandy) Moser of Castana, Iowa; daughter-in-law, Mary Moser of Cloquet, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; sister, Ellen Weber of Danbury, Iowa; brother, Loren (Bev) Moser of California; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Eugene was preceded in death by son, Dewayne Moser; parents, Carl and Rose Moser; brothers, Don Moser and Dennis Moser; sisters, Irene Buschkamp, Frances Brummer, Phyllis Brenner; grandchild at birth Dain Spaulding.
