Faye Wellendorf, age 79, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Mercy Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Pastor Chad Lierman will officiate. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the Memorial Service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 30, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Faye Wellendorf the daughter of Leonard and Lillian (Schlecta) Hansen, was born on February 23, 1938. She graduated from Ida Grove High School and on September 27, 1957, Faye was united in marriage to James R. Wellendorf in the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple were blessed with two children Sheri and Brad.

Faye was a proud wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and loyal friend. She enjoyed her Tuesday coffee club and taking yearly family camping trips to Rapid City, South Dakota to visit her son. In her younger years and early married days, Faye worked at the local creamery in Ida Grove, Iowa. She enjoyed cooking and baking which led her into a career as a cook for many years at Ida Grove Elementary. Her talent in baking will be missed along with her delectable chocolate angel food cake. Faye was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Faye was delighted in her grandchildren, Landon started attending college at the University of North Dakota the home of “The Fighting Sioux” in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Her great-granddaughter Memphis Faye Schade who was thoughtfully named after her. Lindsey is following in her grandma's footsteps with a passion for marching band and cooking.  Jaxen is the very first great grandson, and Grandma Faye cherished Amber's many hours of companionship with Amber's weekly visits.

            Faye was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Lillian Hansen; husband James Wellendorf; and her sister Bev Palm.  Left to cherish her memory are her children Sheri (Jeff) Chandler of Ida Grove, Iowa and Brad (Kristi) Wellendorf of Rapid City, South Dakota; grandchildren Amber (Bobby) Schade of Battle Creek, Iowa, Landon Wellendorf of Grand Forks, North Dakota, and Lindsey Wellendorf of Rapid City, South Dakota; great grandchildren Jaxen and Memphis Schade; aunt Lucy Curnyn of Denison, Iowa; extended family and friends.
