Lois C. O’Reilly, age 99, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2017, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Martin Crain will officiate; with Committal Services following in the Kiron Cemetery of Kiron, Iowa. A visitation will be held on hour prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 12, 2017 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa.             Lois C. O’Reilly the daughter of George W. and Mabel (Sargent) Johnson was born on February 10, 1918, in Ida Grove, IA.

Lois graduated with the class of 1935, from Ida Grove High School and went on to further her education at Buena Vista College. After her schooling, Lois taught country school in Ida County until they closed and students were bused to town. She later became a Certified Nurse’s Aide and worked at Horn Memorial Hospital.

            Lois was blessed with three children Marjorie, Norman and Robert. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, who enjoyed knitting and cooking.

             Left to cherish her memory is her daughter Marjorie of Syracuse, NY; son Robert Carlberg of Omaha, NE. Robert was a chaplain in the Nebraska prison system until his retirement. Lois is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren as well as extended family and friends.

            She was preceded in death by her parents George and Mabel Johnson; son Norman who was an opera singer and director in New York City; sister Charlotte Hayter; four brothers Fred, Herbert, Hobert and Arlo Johnson.
