Florence A. Schultz, age 87, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at the Twilight Acres of Wall Lake, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa. Pastor Ken Miller will officiate. Private Family Committal Services will be held at a later date in the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa.      Florence A. Schultz, the daughter of John and Daisy (Venzke) Sauter was born on February 12, 1930, in Clinton Township. She graduated from Odebolt High School with the class of 1948.

    On September 14, 1950, Florence was united in marriage to Fred “Fritz” Schultz in the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stockholm County, near Kiron, IA. The couple had three children Diane, Dennis, and David.

    Florence and Fritz lived on a farm northeast of Odebolt for all their married life. Working together for 61 years. Florence enjoyed traveling, listening and dancing to polka music, taking care of her dogs and cats on the farm, and attending YES ministry at the Methodist church of Odebolt, IA.

   Florence is survived by her three children Diane (Tom) Paulson of Odebolt, IA, Dennis (Mary) Schultz of Plover, WI, and David (Rose) Schultz of Odebolt, IA; grandchildren Joann (Ryan) Baumert, Jeanette (Jeff) Wulf, Jeffrey (fiancee Sandi) Paulson, Jennifer (Aaron) Whitmer, Ryan Schultz, Megan Schultz, Daniel Schultz, John (Michelle) Schultz, and Ashley (Andy) Poen; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

   Florence was preceded in death by her parents John and Daisy Sauter; husband Fred “Fritz” Schultz; two sisters;  and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

“Florence came into my store on her regular trip to the Storm Lake bakery. She was always fun to talk to and we always enjoyed her stories......especially the one where someone was breaking into her other farm and she drove up and stole the keys out of the car so the guy couldn't drive off. Florence and Fritz......quite the fun couple and always a great story. A pleasure to know them both. They were a "HOOT!" Rest in peace! ”

I oftentimes think of all the many hours I spent with the Schultz family as a youth and also an adult and all the good times we shared. I could always count on Florence's Christmas letter and phone call to update me on the family and the other goings on back home. I will miss her deeply. “Diane and all the Schultz Family...So many memories of your Mom and Dad attending, supporting and cheering for the hometown teams when we were in high school. I can't think of a time I saw your Mom that she didn't have the biggest smile on her face! In later years when I would run across them while shopping here and there, it was always a happy reunion!
