LaVonne Jean Hinrickson, age 80, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2017, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 14, 2017, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Pastor Nancy Peterson will officiate; with Committal Services following in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday, August 14, 2017 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. LaVonne Jean Hinrickson the daughter of Earl and Eunice (Todd) Ferguson was born on April 30, 1937, in Ida Grove, Iowa.

On June 21, 1953, LaVonne married Albert Hinrickson at her grandmother’s home in Ida Grove, Iowa. To this union three children were born Dale, Penni, and Tammy.

In her youth LaVonne liked to go swimming, lifeguard, camp and travel. She was a pack leader for her son Dale’s boy scout troop and also a troop leader for her daughter’s brownie troop. LaVonne would enjoy visiting with the neighbors over a hot cup of coffee or settling down with her crochet and knitting projects. She also lended a hand with the family’s carpentry business. Most of all LaVonne cherished being a wife, mother, grandmother and spending time with family.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 64 years Albert Hinrickson of Ida Grove, IA; children Dale (Cindy) Hinrickson of Ida Grove, IA and Tammy (Steve) Watts of Sac City, IA; five grandchildren Becky (Lance) Juelfs of Holstein, IA, Jason (Val) Hinrickson of Spirit Lake, IA, Tim (Amber) Wilcox of Ida Grove, IA, Steve (April) Wilcox of Ida Grove, IA, and Dr. Tyler (Fiancée Ariel Nenninger) Harm of Ames, IA; step grandchildren Cory Watts of Wall Lake, IA and Abbie Watts of Sac City, IA; eleven great grandchildren; brothers Jerry Ferguson of Centennial, CO and Robert Ferguson of Clearwater, FL; extended family and friends.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Eunice Ferguson; infant sister Dixie Ferguson; brother Richard Ferguson; daughter Penni Wilcox-Hinrichs; and grandson Jamie Hinrickson.
