Marilyn Ann (Bierl) Roeder, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth (Loneman) Bierl, was born on June 25, 1937, in Carroll, IA. Marilyn grew up in the Maple River area and attended school at Maple River.
On January 4, 1964, Marilyn was united in marriage to Ron Roeder at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Halbur, IA. The couple made their home in the Arthur area and were blessed with four children: Nancy, Rick, Jeff and Terry. Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family dearly and always provided them with the most amazing home-cooked meals, especially fried chicken. Marilyn grew bountiful gardens year after year and enjoyed canning and freezing the fruits of her labor as well as sharing them with others.
She loved listening to polka music, dancing, tending to her flowers, putting puzzles together, a friendly game of cards, and finding a good deal at thrift stores. Marilyn could often times be found visiting on the phone for extended periods of time. She had a way of making everyone feel warm and welcome. Once her children were grown, Marilyn was one of the friendly faces found in the Housekeeping Department at Gomaco during her 13 years of service.
Marilyn loved to help run her grandchildren to and from their various activities. She always welcomed them with a smile, generous hugs and kind loving words. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
Left to cherish her memory include her loving husband of 54 years Ron Roeder of Arthur, IA; children Nancy (Steve) Schug of Ida Grove, IA, Rick Roeder of Odebolt, IA, Jeff Roeder of Odebolt, IA and Terry Roeder of Arthur, IA; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild on the way; sister Susie (Marvin) Sporrer of Dedham, IA; brother LeRoy Bierl of Mesa, AZ; sisters-in-law Shirley Eischeid of Carroll, IA, Joann (Dean) Hauser of Tampa, FL; brothers-in-law Dennis (Deanna) Roeder of Ida Grove, IA, Ken (Suzanne) Roeder of De Smet, SD, Gary (Carol) Roeder of Arthur, IA.
