In Memory of Albert Hinrickson

Albert Hinrickson, age 85, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at the Horn Memorial Hospital, of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018 at the Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Pastor Nancy Peterson will officiate. Committal services will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery; with Military Rites conducted by the McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion, both of Ida Grove, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2018, at the Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home, of Ida Grove, Iowa. Albert Hinrickson, the son of John and Augusta (Dodt) Hinrickson, was born on February 6, 1933, in Mapleton, Iowa.

    Albert served his country overseas in Germany as a Cannoneer in the United States Army. He was honorably discharge from service on August 15, 1952. On June 21, 1953, Albert married LaVonne Ferguson at her grandmother’s home in Ida Grove, Iowa. To this union three children were born Dale, Penni, and Tammy. The family made their home in Ida Grove in 1955.

    Albert was a talented craftsman and worked as a carpenter owning his own local business. Albert enjoyed helping his son Dale build model B-29 airplanes for Byron Originals. He relished hard work and always put his God, country and family first.

    Left to cherish his memory are  children Dale (Cindy) Hinrickson of Ida Grove, IA and Tammy (Steve) Watts of Sac City, IA; five grandchildren Becky (Lance) Juelfs of Holstein, IA, Jason (Val) Hinrickson of Spirit Lake, IA, Tim (Amber) Wilcox of Ida Grove, IA, Steve (April) Wilcox of Ida Grove, IA, and Dr. Tyler (fiancée Ariel Nenninger) Harm of Ames, IA; step grandchildren Cory Watts of Wall Lake, IA and Abbie Watts of Sac City, IA; eleven great grandchildren; sister-in-law Ann Hinrickson of Rodney, IA; faithful companion Rambo; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

    Albert was preceded in death by his parents John and Augusta Hinrickson; wife LaVonne Hinrickson; daughter Penni (Leo) Wilcox; grandson Jamie Hinrickson; siblings Lester, Doris, Johnny, Clyde, Louie, Gertrude, Jane, George, Charlie, William, Richard and David.
