Christian “Chris” S. Corbin, age 52, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018, at the UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s of Sioux City, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Kevin J. Freese will officiate. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Christian “Chris” Susan Corbin, the daughter of James and Diane (Nailor) Kollbaum, was born on December 23, 1965, in Battle Creek, IA. Chris grew up in Battle Creek and graduated from Battle Creek High School with the class of 1984. She went on to further her education at Iowa State where she received her Masters of Arts Degree in Teaching.
After college Chris taught in the Schleswig and Castana Public Schools before going overseas to Caracas, Venezuela where she taught at the American Embassy for six months.
Chris returned home to Iowa where she started working as a caregiver for others including her family. Chris married Robert “Bob” Corbin in Elk Point, South Dakota on September 23, 2005. The couple made their home in Ida Grove, Iowa and Chris welcomed Bob’s children Seth, Danielle and Dillion.
Chris loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She enjoyed crafts, visiting with others, and scratching a couple scratch tickets here and there.
Chris was a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandma, friend and caregiver. She will be remembered for her loving, upbeat, outgoing and caring attitude by all that knew her.
Chris is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Corbin of Ida Grove, IA; children Seth (Jamie) Corbin and their children Blake and Kendra of Ida Grove, IA, Danielle (Cody Lorenzen) Corbin and daughter Zoey of Battle Creek, IA, Dillion (Rachel Remmick) Corbin and children Ava, Bailey and Caleb of Odebolt, IA; brother Brandon Miller of Battle Creek, IA and his son Kadon Miller and his mother Katie Sholty of Ida Grove, IA and Barrett Miller of Cherokee, IA and his children Brayden and Madilynne and their mother Tiffany Lundeen and her children Joseph, Jesse, and Terry of Marcus, IA; sister Kim (Don) Bremer and their sons Jonathon and Jason of Sioux City, IA and Kim’s son Chance Rohlk (Fiancée Taylor Huisman) of Sioux City, IA; aunt Julie Walls of Battle Creek, IA; uncle Doug (Laurel) Nailor of Carson, IA; extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Diane (Nailor) Miller; and grandparents Don and Marilyn Nailor.
