Josephine “Jose” M. Hampton, age 82, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Richard A. Salcido and Rev. Neil Wehmas will officiate with Committal Services following in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Josephine “Jose” Margaret Hampton, the daughter of William and Gladys Waller, was born August 10, 1936, in Luton, England. Jose grew up and received her education in England. She met the love of her life, Conrad Hampton, while he was stationed in England serving in the U.S. Air Force. 

On August 18, 1954, Jose and Conrad were united in marriage. The couple were blessed with eight children: Lisa, Krista, Carol, Michael, Mark, Greg, Phillip and Scott. The family made their home in various places before settling in Ida Grove, IA. Jose was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She relished spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed watching and cheering on the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers.

Jose was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was active in teaching Sunday school and the bell choir. For 35 years, she served as a volunteer on the Ida Grove ambulance crew. Prior to her retirement, Jose was employed at the Horn Memorial Hospital for 40 years working her way up to CS Manager.

Left to cherish her memory include her children Lisa (David) Urffer of Atlanta, GA, Krista (Marc) Kollbaum of St. Louis, MO, Carol (Ron) Bresnahan of Ida Grove, IA, Michael Hampton of Ames, IA, Mark Hampton of Red Oak, IA, Greg Hampton of Ponca City, OK and Phillip (Leticia) Hampton of West Covina, CA; 11 grandchildren: Alexander, Christopher (Beth), Devin, Drew (Katie), Todd (Angie), Heidi (Bart), Katie and Kyle; 6 great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Hattie, Avery, Gage, Christian and Ellie; special friends Jeff Hewitt, Sheri Shrank and Megan Clark; extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents William and Gladys Waller; husband Conrad Hampton; son Scott Hampton; grandson Justin Bresnahan; sister Mary.
