Matthew Thomas Hurley, age 45, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, near Harcourt, Iowa.
Memorial Services will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt, Iowa. Pastor Bill Crawford will officiate. A Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2019, at the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt, Iowa. Matthew Thomas Hurley, the son of Kenneth and Linda (Osterholt) Hurley, was born February 3, 1973, in Denison, IA. Matthew grew up in Odebolt, IA and received his education at Odebolt-Arthur High School, graduating with the class of 1991. After graduating, he entered the workforce as a factory worker. Later on, he continued his education at DMACC.
Matthew worked at Plastic Pack in Mattoon, IL and then moved to Ames, IA, where he was employed at Ball Corp. for a number of years. He eventually returned to Northwest Iowa where he was most recently employed at VT Industries in Holstein, IA.
Matthew was blessed with one daughter, Shailey. He loved time on the water and liked to go waterskiing. He also enjoyed riding roller coasters and horses with his daughter. Matthew will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory include his daughter Shailey Hurley of Omaha, NE; father Kenneth Hurley of Odebolt, IA; sister Mindy (Kelly) Brockman of Mattoon, IL; niece Jaida Brockman of Mattoon, IL.
He was preceded in death by his mother Linda Hurley, maternal grandparents Albert and Irene Osterholt; paternal grandparents Dick and Barb Hurley; two uncles and one aunt.
