Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at Faith Community Church in Ida Grove, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. Pastor Mark Aurand will officiate, with burial to follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion. Born September 6, 1934, in rural Ida County, Iowa, Wayne William Ruser was the son of Herbert and Louise (Rathbun) Ruser. He graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1952.
On March 27, 1955, Wayne was united in marriage to Dorothy Krambeck. Wayne served in the United States Army from 1957-59. The couple farmed until their retirement in 2000.
If there was an auction in the area you would be likely to see Wayne in the crowd. He knew every farmer in the area and regardless of where he went there was someone who would stop and visit with him. He could carry on a conversation on a wide range of subjects. Wayne enjoyed antique vehicles and equipment and was a collector of old cars and tractors but welcomed new technology and always had to have the latest gadgets. He was always willing to try new things.
Wayne was associated with Faith Community Church in Ida Grove and was always eager to lend a helping hand.
Wayne and Dorothy enjoyed their gardens and were very generous in sharing their bounty. Their garden was the envy of many.
Wayne had a generous heart and was willing to help in any way he could. His smile would light up a room. He was a loving husband, brother, and uncle, and will be missed.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Dorothy; a brother, Robert Ruser and wife Shirley of Ida Grove; sisters-in-law, Mildred Krambeck of Galva, and Arlene Gray of Moville; a brother-in-law, Choyce Chadwick of Gadsen, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janet Chadwick; parents-in-law, Paul and Emma Krambeck; brothers-in-law Eldon Krambeck and Robert Gray; nephews, Sonny and wife Paula Krambeck, and Jimmy Krambeck; and a great-niece, Alisha Droegmiller.
