In Memory of Lucille M. Ruser
Lucille M. Ruser, age 83, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019, at the Horn Memorial Hospital Ida Grove, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Reverend Shari O’Bannon will officiate. Committal will follow in the Galva Township Cemetery West of Galva, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Lucille Margaret Ruser was born on June 17, 1935. She was the youngest of seven children born to John “Henry” and Anna (Spotts) Wert. Lucille grew up in Battle Creek, Iowa and graduated from Battle Creek High School with the class of 1953.
Lucille was baptized and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek but later transferred her membership to the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Ida Grove, Iowa.
On July 3, 1957, Lucille married Stanley Ruser in the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek. The couple were blessed with two daughters Robin and Anita. Lucille worked for attorney Leonard Graham of Ida Grove for several years, before serving as the Deputy Recorder at the Ida County Courthouse for 17 years.
Lucille’s favorite pastimes were knitting, reading, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes. Lucille found her true calling when she earned the title “Grandma.” She enjoyed spending time and making memories with her granddaughters Skye and Paige.
Over the years Stan and Lucille enjoyed many vacations with Robin and Anita out west, and especially visiting Colorado. Once her daughters began families of their own, Lucille and Stan enjoyed travelling to Branson, MO. After Stan passed away in June of 2017, Lucille continued to live in the home they built in the country up until present.
Survivors include daughters Robin (Jim) Densmore and Anita (Rand) Whitney of Ida Grove; two granddaughters Skye Densmore (Ross Gaulke) and Paige Whitney; sisters-in-law Donna Wert and Dorothy Ruser; extended family and friends.
Lucille was preceded death by her parents John “Henry” and Anna Wert; husband Stanley “Stan” Ruser; siblings: Maurine (Lowell) Wallace, Charles (Lucy) Wert, Doris (Howard) Campbell Silkman, Darlene Muller, Donald “Pete” Wert, Mary (Dan) Williamson; and brother-in-law Daniel Ruser.
