Hubert was born April 10, 1928, at his family’s farm home northwest of Deloit, Iowa in Crawford County. He was the second child and the oldest of seven sons born to Henry Fred and Inez Evelyn (Childress) Boysen. He was raised on the farm and attended Goodrich Township #1 Country School and showed cattle for the 4-H and FFA at county fairs. As a young man he helped take care of the hired men on the family farm while his dad drove truck. This is where his love for farming began.
On January 4, 1948, he married the love of his life, Corlys Ohl at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa. They started their lives together in Denison, where Hubert worked at the John Deere Plant until 1952, when he was drafted into the Army. He served as a Sergeant with the 57 ORD Recovery Unit as a mechanic during the Korean Conflict until 1954 when he was honorably discharged.
After returning home Hubert and Corlys moved to a farm where he got started with share cropping for around two years. Then they moved to another farm north of Battle Creek, Iowa where their family grew and were blessed with a daughter, Susan. In 1966, Hubert and Corlys welcomed the birth of their son, Lee Jon. The same year they purchased a farm north of Arthur, Iowa where Hubert grew crops and raised livestock. When the farm life would allow, the family would go camping at Lake View or Lake Okoboji together. After several years on their family farm, Hubert and Corlys retired into their last home together in Ida Grove, Iowa. They enjoyed family and friends visiting and lived out the rest of their 71 years together.
Hubert had a big heart and will be missed by his loving wife Corlys Boysen of Ida Grove, IA; son Lee Jon Boysen of Odebolt, IA; brothers Dean Boysen of West Burlington, IA and Don (Ruby) Boysen of West Plains, MO; sister-in-law LaVon Boysen of Sac City, IA; nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his parents Henry and Inez Boysen; daughter Susan Boysen; infant sister LuVerne Unabell; brothers Leonard Boysen, Melvin Boysen, Jim (Judy) Boysen and Rev. Joseph (Sharon) Boysen; a nephew Ted Boysen.

Condolences
I am deeply saddened to hear or Hubert’s passing. He has been in my thoughts a lot over the past few weeks. I have so many wonderful memories of staying with you on the farm when I was a young man. Learning to drive 😊 and shucking popcorn. My memories of Susan are also very dear to my heart and now he can spend time resting with her and guide over you for many years to come. I am honored to be a pallbearer for him. Love you!!”
Sorry to hear of Hubert's passing. I have known the Boysen family for years. Also remember seeing you at Hank an Ruth's house. My thoughts and prayers are with you.”
