Ricky Ray Segebart, was one of five children born to Alvin and Darlene (Negless) Segebart. He was born on November 4, 1954, in Cherokee, IA. Rick spent the majority of his childhood in rural Battle Creek, IA, and graduated from Battle Creek High School with the class of 1973.
On September 1, 1973, Rick married Bette Brinkerhoff. The couple settled down in rural Battle Creek and were blessed with five children: Sheldon, Rochelle, Brad, Anita, and Nicki. The couple would later part ways.
In 1998, Rick met his significant other, Shari Rohlf. The two enjoyed many years together on the farm outside of Battle Creek.
Rick had a gift for fixing things, especially cars. He made a career as a mechanic and would later teach the trade to his sons. Rick also enjoyed classic cars, “muddin”, carpentry, gardening, fishing, camping, and cooking. He was a jack of all trades, learning how to do new things, just as his father had done.
His love for his children ran deep. Rick enjoyed teaching his children to fish, ride snowmobiles, drive a stick shift, and play cribbage. Rick made many memories with his children during family vacations, fishing trips to Canada and the Red River, camping trips to Oldham and day trips to cut wood or pick apples.
He will be fondly remembered by his friends for his sense of humor and trickster moves during a card game.
He is survived by his children Sheldon (Jennean) Segebart of Youngstown, FL, Rochelle (Rob) Hoskins of Lynn Haven, FL, Brad (Jennifer) Segebart of Battle Creek, IA, Anita (Bobby) Schlender of Arthur, IA and Nicki (George) Ehrig of Ida Grove, IA; significant other Shari Rohlf of Battle Creek, IA; Shari’s children Jodie (Jeff) Hudson of Ida Grove, IA, Jamie (Cheryl) Rohlf of Wall Lake, IA, Joseph Rohlf of Odebolt, IA and Jennifer (Bradley) Bengford of Odebolt, IA; 15 grandchildren and Shari’s 23 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and Shari’s 3 great-grandchildren; brothers David (Rebecca) Segebart and Richard (Rhonda) Segebart both of Schaller, IA; sister Cindy (Marc) Albers of Battle Creek, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents Alvin and Darlene Segebart and brother Roger Segebart.
