In Memory of Cody Alan Bengford
Cody Alan Bengford, age 33, of Bellevue, Nebraska (formerly of Ida Grove, Iowa) passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2019, as the result of a kayak accident at Nobles Lake of Missouri Valley, Iowa.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball and Father David A. Hemann will officiate. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 3:45 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 25, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Cody Alan Bengford and his twin brother, Casey, were born on August 25, 1986, in Ida Grove, Iowa. He was one of 17 children born to Robert and Joan (Venteicher) Bengford. He grew up in Ida Grove where he graduated from BCIG High School with the class of 2005. During his high school years, Cody lettered in cross country, baseball and choir.
He went on to continue his education at Northwest Missouri State University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, Cody began his employment with Wal Mart as an assistant manager in Lee Summit, Missouri.
On July 13, 2013, Cody married the love of his life Emily Whorton in St. Joseph, Missouri. The couple made their home in Omaha, Nebraska and then relocated to their forever home in Bellevue, Nebraska. Cody and Emily were blessed with their two beautiful daughters, Hadley and Charlotte, who were the light of his life.
Cody was currently managing serval offices for H&R Block. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Cody also enjoyed golfing, singing, cheering on the Royals, and shared a deep and unbreakable bond with his twin brother Casey. Cody cherished every moment spent with his family and friends. He was a faithful member of the St. Matthew Catholic Church of Bellevue and shared the love of his Lord with his family.
A devoted Christian, son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. His memory will be carried on in the hearts of those who loved him.
Cody is survived by his wife Emily Bengford and daughters Hadley and Charlotte of Bellevue, NE; parents Robert “Bob” and Joan Bengford of Ida Grove, IA; 15 siblings: Troy (Shierly) Bengford, Alicia Kalil (special friend Ralf Vandersluis), Eric Bengford (special friend April Chindlund), Heather Beal (special friend Tim English), Brett (Marie) Bengford, Holly (Kyle) Ruden, Erin Bengford (special friend Jessy DeMoss), Casey (Nicole) Bengford, Nathan (Ashley) Bengford, Abby Bengford, Ashley Bengford (fiancé Derek Greiner), Garret Bengford (wife Tera Marquardt), Tiffany (Brett) Schrank, Quinlan Bengford and Keegan Bengford; grandmother Rita Dirksen; parents-in-law Mitchell and Rhonda Whorton of Union Star, MO; brother-in-law Jeremy (Katie) Whorton and Blake (Kristina) Whorton; sister-in-law April Whorton; grandparents-in-law Jay Whorton, Donald (Doris) Hinkle and Lila Hinkle (special friend Larry Ridkin); 32 nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers Raymond Venteicher and Joe Dirksen; grandparents Leo and Neva Bengford; foster grandparents Ralph and Rita Lansink; brother Evan Bengford; uncle Dean Venteicher; aunt Gloria Bengford; and grandmother-in-law Hazel Whorton.
