In Memory of Robert E. Siebrecht
Robert E. Siebrecht, age 79, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2019, at the United Methodist Church of Odebolt, Iowa. Pastor Ken Miller will officiate. Committal will follow in the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. Military Rites will be conducted by the Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion of Odebolt, IA. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2019, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa. Robert E. Siebrecht was born on August 31, 1940, in Carroll, Iowa. He was the son of John and Hilma (Olson) Siebrecht. Robert was baptized and confirmed in his faith at the United Methodist Church of Odebolt, Iowa. In his youth, he attended Richland #1 country school and graduated from Odebolt High School with the class of 1958. After high school Robert went into farming with his father, John.
He enlisted in the Army National Guard and served from 1963 to 1968 when he was honorably discharged to resume farming north of Odebolt. On September 26, 1971, Robert married Mary Louise Raasch in the United Methodist Church of Odebolt. The couple were blessed with five children: Karen, Tammi, Trent, Kimberly, and Angela.
Robert was a 50 year member of the Roose Post No. 313 of the Odebolt American Legion. He was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church of Odebolt and enjoyed farming, bowling, playing cribbage, jigsaw puzzles, word searches and old western movies.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Siebrecht of Odebolt, IA; children, Tammi (Brett) Murley of Sac City, IA, Trent Siebrecht of Storm Lake, IA, Kimberly Siebrecht of Ames, IA, and Angela Siebrecht of Grinnell, IA; eight grandchildren: Tiffany, Jacob, Tyler, Zachary, Elizabeth, Isabella, Garrett and Karsen; sister, Joan (Richard) Grosnickle of Mesa, AZ, sister, Shirley Rickers of Kiron, IA and sister-in-law, Irene Siebrecht of Clive, IA; nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hilma Siebrecht; infant daughter, Karen; twin sister, Roberta; infant granddaughter, Ashlynn Murley; infant grandson, Christopher Becker; brothers, Kermit, Lloyd, and Merle.
