In Memory of Warren Lindberg
Warren Lindberg, age 93, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019, at the Morningside Care Center of Ida Grove, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2020, at the Arthur Evangelical Free Church of Arthur, Iowa. Pastor Dave Schultz will officiate with Committal Services following in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. A Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 2, 2020, at the Arthur Evangelical Free Church of Arthur, Iowa. Warren Gordon Lindberg, the son of Everett and Ruth Lindberg, was born November 2, 1926, in Lawton, Iowa. He was raised in the Kiron, Iowa area and received his education from Kiron High School. After high school, Warren was employed as farmhand for a couple of years.
Warren moved to Ida County in 1947 and on July 22, 1947, he was united in marriage to Irene McGee at the Evangelical Free Church in Battle Creek, Iowa. The couple made their home in rural Ida Grove, Iowa and were blessed with two children, Ruth Ann and Rodney. Warren was engaged in farming for 52 years raising cattle, hogs, and crops. In 1980 he retired from farming and the couple moved into Ida Grove where Warren drove cars for Holmes Motors for many years.
Warren served as a director of the Grant Center School in Ida County for a number of years. In 1978, Warren and Irene donated the Grant Center School to the Ida County Historical Society which is now located out in Moorehead Park. He was a former member of the Kiron First Baptist Church where he served as an usher, trustee and deacon over the years. Warren enjoyed going out for supper with friends and family as well as playing board games.
Left to cherish his memory include his children Ruth Ann (Harlan) Carpenter of Lincoln, NE and Rodney (Carole) Lindberg of Ida Grove, IA; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Everett and Ruth Lindberg; his wife Irene Lindberg; sisters Laura Jane Lindberg (in infancy) and Anabel (Howard) Johnson.
