Eldon Pfleeger, age 77, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Sunday, July 21, 2013, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.
                Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes.  The Reverend Adam Peck will officiate, with burial to follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery.  Military graveside rites will be conducted by McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion.  Visitation with the family present will be held on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove.  
                Born June 1, 1936, in Arthur, Iowa, Eldon Dean Pfleeger was the son of Earl and Arvilla (Hein) Pfleeger.  He was baptized as an infant on July 19, 1936, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ida County, Iowa, and was confirmed in his faith on March 25, 1951, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove.
                Eldon grew up and attended school in Ida Grove, graduating from Ida Grove High School in 1955.  Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving until December, 1958.
                On May 23, 1970, Eldon was united in marriage to Ellen Renze in Ida Grove.  They were blessed with two children, John and June.
                Eldon worked for the DX Station, Co-op, and Midwest Industries.  He was a Mopar fan and took pride in his vehicles.  Eldon enjoyed watching western movies, reading Louis L’Amour books, and always had a “high-five” for the grandkids.
                Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Ellen; two children, John (Kim) Pfleeger of Lake Villa, IL, and June (Tracy) Hammond of Cherokee; four grandchildren, Gage and Greta Pfleeger, both of Lake Villa, IL, and Alex and Arika Hammond, both of Cherokee; two brothers, Roger (Karen) Pfleeger of Hinton, and Dick (Connie) Pfleeger of Ida Grove; two sisters-in-law, Gwen Pfleeger of Ida Grove, and Barb Pfleeger of Arthur; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
                He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gary Pfleeger and Lyle Pfleeger.

“Sending condolence to Ellen and Family. So sorry to hear your news. You are a strong person and through your faith you will make it through this.
