Christy Deeann Hamman, the daughter of Frances (Pete) Holbrook, was born on November 21, 1958, in Redwood City, California. She grew up in California enjoying the redwoods and surfing until her teenage years when the family relocated to the Midwest.
While living west of Mapleton, Iowa, Christy attended and graduated from Westwood High School with the class of 1977. After graduation Christy went into the workforce and was employed at a local hospital. She soon found her calling as a 911 dispatcher in Ida County and then for Woodbury County up until her health forced her into retirement.
This loving mother and free spirit gave of herself freely until she could not give anymore. Her perfect morning would consist of tending to her plants while sipping a hot cup of coffee, munching on San Francisco sour dough smothered in butter with the smell of patchouli lingering in the air while Home Alone plays on Netflix in the background. It was no secret how much she loved her family and treasured time spent with them. Christy was also an avid music lover and believed in love, peace and rock-n-roll.
She is survived by her children Travis (Angela) Hamman of Sioux City, IA, Sarah (Jonathan) Mumm of Ute, IA and Mychael Dean of Ida Grove, IA; five grandchildren: Elexis, Austin, Landon, Owen and Emma; brother Steve (Chris) Namanny of Sioux City, IA; step-father Pete Holbrook of Boulder Creek, CA; nephews Andrew and Ben Namanny; niece Katey Namanny; extended family and friends.
Christy is preceded in death by her mother Frances Holbrook; and her maternal grandparents, Russ and Edna Andrews.
“Life is a circle, beginning, middle and end, and when the end draws near, rest in knowing did good, you did touch people and left a good feeling in their heart” – Christy Hamman
