In Memory of James R. Wellendorf
James Wellendorf, age 76, of Ida Grove, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, 2013, at the First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Chad Lierman will officiate. The family will greet friends at the church on Saturday one hour prior to services, with a Masonic Service at 1:15 p.m.
Born March 12, 1937, in Ida County, Iowa, James Roland Wellendorf was the son of Albert and Leona (Else) Wellendorf. He graduated from Arthur High School and, on September 27, 1957, was united in marriage to Faye Hansen at the First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove. Two children, Sheri and Brad, were born to this union.
Jim worked as a real estate appraiser in the area and was an active member of the Ida Grove community. He belonged to the First United Methodist Church, Masonic Kane Lodge, Kiwanis, and Chamber of Commerce. In earlier years he served on the board of directors at Horn Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Faye; two children, Sheri (Jeff) Chandler of Ida Grove, and Brad (Kristi) Wellendorf of Rapid City, SD; three grandchildren, Amber Chandler and special friend Bobby Schade of Holstein, Landon Wellendorf and Lindsey Wellendorf, both of Rapid City, SD; one expected great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Alberta Wellendorf of Holstein; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Harlan Wellendorf.
