Deloris “Dee” J. McKibban was born on May 15, 1945, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Otis and Lenora (Hamilton) Jenkins.

She grew up in the Lakota, Iowa, area and on August 25, 1963, Dee married the love of her life Lloyd McKibban, Sr., in Winnebago, Minnesota. The couple were blessed with four children: Margarett, Betty, Lloyd, Jr., and Will. Due to Lloyd’s employment as a farm hand the family moved frequently. Dee enjoyed being a stay at home mom while her children were little and then worked various jobs outside of the home.

The couple purchased their forever home in Early, Iowa and shared 43 years of marriage along with treasured memories before Lloyd passed away in December of 2006. Dee continued to call Early home for nearly 20 years before losing her courageous battle with COVID-19 on November 16, 2020.

You may recall Dee’s friendly smile from the Loring Hospital or Buena Vista Regional Medical Center. She was employed in the housekeeping department until 2015 when she entered retirement. A heart of gold, Dee was always willing to give her last dollar to help anyone in need. She loved quilting, crocheting, spoiling her fur babies over the years, traveling, loving on her grandbabies, a hot cup of coffee, and a good homecooked meal.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Margarett (Kendall) Zobel of Galva, IA, Betty (Doug) Conlee of Kalamazoo, MI, Lloyd Jr. (Michelle) McKibban of Sioux Falls, SD and Will McKibban of Fort Dodge, IA; grandchildren: Jared Phillips Zobel, Christie Van Houten, Micheal Zobel, Sarah and Mitchell Walters, Alyssa, Erika and Alec McKibban, Jacob, Sydney and Emma McKibban and Ethan Conlee; great-grandchildren: Sophia and Wyatt Van Houten, and Lara McKibban; sister Maxine Iverson of Fort Dodge, IA; numerous extended family and friends.

Dee was preceded in death by her parents Otis and Lenore Jenkins; husband Lloyd McKibban, Sr.; granddaughter Brittney Jean Zobel; daughter-in-law Michelle McKibban; and 16 of her siblings.

“So sorry for your loss. I worked with Dee at Godfathers when I was in high school and college. I had kept in touch with her over the years, we would go out to eat once in a while. We would end up sitting and talking and laughing for quite a while. She was always the sweetest lady, when I would see her in the grocery store she always had a big hug for me. She was always such a hard worker, I always admired her drive to stay busy. I will miss her greatly. Prayers for your family.”
