In Memory of Edwina L. Peters

Edwina L. Peters, age 77, of Humboldt, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at the Humboldt Care Center North of Humboldt, Iowa. 

No services will be held at this time. Burial will be held at a later date at the Garfield Township Cemetery of Webb, Iowa. The Christensen - Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent online www.christensenvanhouten.com.

Edwina Lee Peters, the daughter of Edwin and Lucille (Robertson) Wilcox, was born on September 16, 1943, in Altoona, Iowa. She grew up in Laurens, Iowa and received her education at Laurens High School.

On September 23, 1961, Edwina married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Peters, in Webb, Iowa. Marvin was enlisted in the U.S. Army so the couple made their home on a military base while he served his country. Upon his honorable discharge the couple moved back to the Webb and Sioux Rapids, Iowa, area before making their home in Sutherland, Iowa. The couple was blessed with three children: Anita, Chris, and Bruce. Edwina was a stay at home mom raising her children and was a caretaker for her husband, Marvin, who was paralyzed from the neck down in a trucking accident. Edwina also babysat for many children over the years.

Edwina was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A great deal of her life was spent caring for others. She enjoyed tending to her garden and her beautiful flower beds.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughters Anita McClain of Ida Grove, IA and Chris Peters of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren Tara (Travis) Todd, Steven (significant other Ana) Ryherd, Alex Ryherd, and Chelsie (James) Miller; great-grandchildren: Devin, Kynlee, Caseton, Corbin,  Connor and Lauren; brothers: Larry (Susie) Wilcox, Terry (Paulette) Wilcox, Gary Wilcox, and Jerry Wilcox; sisters: Beverly (Fred) Lenz, Delores Jackson, Char Eaton, and Patricia Lindsey; extended family and friends.

Edwina was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Lucille Wilcox; husband Marvin Peters; son Behrouz “Bruce” Peters; sisters JoAnn and Shirley (in infancy).
