Bruce Harry Lansink was born on October 22, 1959, in Ida Grove, Iowa, to Raymond and Luella Kohles Lansink.  He grew up on the family farm south of Ida Grove with his sister and three brothers, where he learned to take care of crops and livestock, finding special interest in cattle.   He graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1978 and went on to become a ranch hand in western Nebraska.  He returned home to farm with his dad for many years as the third generation to care for the family farm.  Bruce continued to be employed in various agricultural jobs until his death.

He was a beef superintendent at the Ida County Fair for many years, was active in the Ida County Cattlemen’s Association, Sons of the American Legion and a member of Pheasants Forever.  He enjoyed spending time doing woodworking projects, welding, and sharing his roping talents with school children every year as well as Cowboy poetry and old time country music.

He married Rana’ Mahoney on June 29, 1990.  They were blessed with a son, Logan, on July 28, 1992.  They later divorced but remained close friends.

Always ready to offer his help, Bruce was a loyal and faithful friend, brother and father.  He especially loved spending time with his son Logan, traveling to hear his band wherever they were playing.  His grandchildren were a wonderful light in his life and he loved spending time with them when he could.

He was very proud of his 9 month chip which read: “God grant me the serenity to except the things I cannot change. Courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference”, from his “Thursday night club”. His family was equally proud of him for achieving it.

Left to cherish his memories are his son Logan (Jessica) Lansink, step daughter Tonya (Adam) Rehse, three grandchildren: Addison, Jaiston and Ashtyn.  Also three brothers, Allen Lansink of Ida Grove,  Marc (Mary) Lansink of Battle Creek, Paul (Sheila) Lansink of Anthon and one sister, LuAnn (Alan) Bennett of Galva. Rana’ Lansink of Ida Grove and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

“To Bruce's Family,
I was a neighbor of Bruce and his family for many years in Grant township on the farm. We spent many long hours on the school bus, but his humor kept the ride from being boring. I also bought my first car from Bruce, which was a hopped up Plymouth Fury. He loved that car and I had a lot of fun with it! I was blessed to know Bruce and I know he will be missed. Rest in Peace Bruce.

“To Bruce's family

I am so sorry for your loss. We were in the same class in Ida Grove schools and spent many Saturday mornings and Wed nights in religious education classes together. Bruce had such a great sense of humor and he put a smile on my face always. I am saddened by his passing and will keep you all in my prayers. ”

Bruce was one of the kindest guys and THE funniest guy I've ever had the privilege of knowing. It was a blessing to know him through all our school years. He will truly be missed. Our thoughts are with you all.”
