James Edward “Jim” Druivenga, the son of Carl and Elsie (Wunschel) Druivenga, was born on August 4, 1938, in Sac County, Iowa. He grew up on the farm in rural Arthur, Iowa and attended Hayes Township Country School. When finished with his schooling, Jim began working at the auto body shop in Odebolt, Iowa and then eventually worked as a blacksmith for his uncle in Arthur.
On November 30, 1962, Jim was united in marriage to Janice Petersen at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple was blessed with two children: Brian and Brenda. The family made their home in the Battle Creek, Iowa, area. Jim was employed with Midwest Industries in Ida Grove for 45 plus years. He began as a welder and then moved into fabrication where he worked until his retirement.
Jim was not only an avid bowler but a competitive one as well. He enjoyed golfing, attending stock car races, and going to the casino. He liked playing cards; especially cribbage.
