Joyce Elaine Raven, age 75, of Holstein, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein, Iowa.

Local Services will not be held. Graveside Services will be held in Green Hills Memorial Park Cemetery of Rancho Palos Verdes, California.

The Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.  Condolences may be sent online at www.christensenvanhouten.com

    Joyce Elaine Raven, the daughter of Jesse Bazer and Betty Cosby was born on January 5, 1946, in St. Francis, Kansas.

    The family moved frequently during her youth and settled in California. Joyce was blessed with three children Dwayne, Judith, and James. She retired from Hughes Aerospace in El Segundo, California where she worked as an office manager.

    Due to health issues she moved to Iowa to be closer to her son James. Joyce enjoyed Las Vegas, making Christmas goodies with her granddaughter Christin, getting her nails done, crafting, watching Judge Judy, and keeping in touch with her family and friends.

    Left to cherish her memory are her sons Jesse Dwayne Dunn of Upland, CA and James A. Dunn of Holstein, IA; grandchildren: Christin Doolen, Brittany Perez, Justin Dunn, James Matthew Dunn, and Alma Surachutikarn; great-grandchildren Noah & Sophia; brother Gerald Bazer of OK; sisters Mary (Steve) Bazer-Gann of AZ and Berenice (Harvey) Zucker of MT; dear friend Joseph Nelson of Cushing, IA; extended family and friends.

    Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Jesse Bazer and Betty Cosby; husbands Jerry McCown and Gene Raven; daughter (in infancy) Judith Denise Dunn; granddaughter Jessica Dunn; brother Billy Bazer; and sister Janie Razo.
