Thomas J. Cranston, age 64, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021, at his residence of Odebolt, Iowa.

A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. The family invites the public to join them for a get-together to share stories and remember Tom on Thursday, July 14, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Odebolt Community Center.

Thomas “Tom” James Cranston was welcomed into this world on July 6, 1957, in Ida Grove, Iowa. He was one of eight children born to Donald and Bernadine (Dinges) Cranston. Tom grew up in Odebolt, Iowa and graduated from Odebolt-Arthur High School with the class of 1975. After graduation, he relocated to Iowa City, Iowa, to live with his brother, Roger.

Tom began his career with the University of Iowa as a custodian where he was employed for 42 years. Upon his retirement he moved back to Odebolt to be closer to family. He loved visits to the Cranston family farm and spending time with his family.

Left to cherish his memory include his siblings Steven (Karen) Cranston of Odebolt, IA, Roger (Chris) Cranston of Colorado Springs, CO, Greg (Gail) Cranston of Yuma, CO, Jeff Cranston of Odebolt, IA, John (Fran) Cranston of Huntsville, AL and Cathy (Bob) Maynard of Council Bluffs, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Donald and Bernadine Cranston; infant sister Mary Ellen Cranston; sister-in-law Deb Cranston; niece Leandra Cranston.
