Margie B. Lippincott was born on November 23, 1922 on a farm North East of Odebolt, to Jesse B. and Grace O. (Lincoln) Thevenot. In 1925, the family moved to a farm five miles north of Arthur in Silver Creek Township. She attended Silver Creek #7 school through the 6th grade and went on to graduate in 1940 as valedictorian of her class at the Arthur High School.
Margie met Cleo C. Lippincott and they were united in marriage on March 14, 1942 in Maryville MO. When Cleo was drafted into the army, Margie joined him at Ft. Belvoir, VA, and Camp Kilmer, NJ, working in the service club cafeteria in both camps before Cleo went overseas on March 4, 1943. During Cleo’s tour of duty, Margie worked at Union Pacific in Omaha and Pratt and Whitney in Kansas City. When Cleo returned in November, 1945, they lived briefly in Kansas City before returning to Iowa where they were blessed with two daughters, Mary Ellen and Jean Ann. They lived in both Arthur and Ida Grove before building and moving into their home in Arthur in 1955.
Margie is well remembered for her 10 years as a hot lunch cook at the Arthur School. She then worked as a bookkeeper at the Arthur Lumber Co. before being employed as a deputy auditor in Ida Country where she worked for 20 years before retiring in 1986.
Margie was a long time member of the Arthur United Methodist Church where she held several offices on the board and was active in the UMW. She was also a member of the Arthur City Council, Arthur Community Board, and the Library Board.
A loving wife, devoted mother, and a treasured grandmother and great-grandmother, Margie’s first love was always her family. Throughout her life, she lived one day at a time, greeting each new day with a positive attitude, boundless energy, and faith. She enjoyed fishing trips to Minnesota, South Dakota, and Canada. She loved being outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens, but she also loved cooking, especially baking pies for her family and for neighbors and fundraisers. She made all guests to her home feel special with her decorating touch and her plentiful tasty treats. Margie also enjoyed playing cards, watching the Cubs, and trips to the casinos.
Margie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, her parents, one sister; Mildred Noll, and one brother; Chester Thevenot.

Condolences
In checking the Odebolt Chronicle, I just discovered your loss of that dear cheerful mother of yours. She was one very special lady that we all loved when we went through the lunch line at the Arthur School. The last time I was in Odebolt, I stopped to see her before leaving town and had a wonderful visit. You have so many wonderful memories of a first class mother. Cherish them.”
I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I always enjoyed visiting with her at the reunions.
Just think of the glorious welcome she received in Heaven from all the other Westlakes.
