Mary Moser was born July 7, 1925, in rural Danbury, Iowa, to Albert and Bessie (Iddings) Rosauer. The family lived on a farm north of Danbury, and Mary attended country school near Midway through 8th grade. She then worked for other people until moving to Des Moines, Iowa. During World War II Mary worked in Des Moines performing jobs similar to “Rosie The Riveter”. They were all waiting for the end of the war and their men to come home.
On November 27, 1945, Mary was united into marriage to Eugene Moser in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury. The couple made their home in Battle Creek, Iowa and were blessed with four children: Dewayne, Lorraine, Lois, and Tim. In 1948 Eugene and Mary started farming north of Danbury and then later moved to a farm south of Danbury where they enjoyed farming until their retirement.
Mary was a faithful member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury. She enjoyed cooking, baking, making jelly and candy gifts. She was particularly known for her cinnamon rolls. Mary was an avid gardener tending to her flowers, fruits, and vegetables. She was very proud of her fruit tree harvests. Mary also enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them from her kitchen table.
Mary is survived by her children Lorraine Lund (Randy Seiss) of Harbor Springs, MI, Lois (Roger) Spaulding of Battle Creek, IA and Tim (Sandy) Moser of Castana, IA; daughter-in-law Mary Moser of Cloquet, MN; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson; sisters Katherine Moser of Danbury, IA and Barbara (Mike) Peter of Hot Springs Village, AR; sister-in-law Verna Rosauer of Danbury, IA; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Albert Rosauer and Bessie Rosauer; her husband Eugene Moser; son Dewayne Moser; grandson Dain Spaulding; great-grandson Wyatt Stein; sister Genevieve Hughes; brothers Norbert Rosauer, Walter “Bud” Rosauer and Carl Rosauer; and brother-in-law Don Moser.
