Boyd Imhoff, age 79, of Odebolt, Iowa, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 27, 2013, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa with the Father Richard D. Ball officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Martin’s Catholic Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at the Christensen ~ Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa. Boyd Imhoff was born August 1, 1934 in Moorehead, Iowa to Francis Boyd and Irene Martha (Trickel) Imhoff. He attended Des Moines Township School in Rolfe and graduated. After graduation Boyd enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Greenland.
When he returned home Boyd married Nancy A. Brabec on February 8, 1964 and they made their home on a farm South East of Pocahontas, Iowa. The couple was blessed with three children Wayne, Joel, and Mark. In 1970 the couple moved to Odebolt, Iowa, where Boyd worked for the elevator for a short time, but he truly enjoyed trucking and hauling and went back to trucking.
Boyd owned his own trucking business named Boyd Imhoff Trucking. He traveled all over the U.S.A. delivering heavy construction equipment. In his down time he collected, tinkered, and restored antique tractors, and enjoyed going on annual tractor rides. Boyd also took pleasure in gardening and having coffee with friends
Survivors include his loving wife Nancy Imhoff of Odebolt, IA, children, Wayne (Stephanie) Imhoff of Ames, IA; Joel (Heather) Imhoff of Ames, IA; Mark (Donna) Imhoff of Ames, IA, grandchildren, Anna and David Imhoff; Colin and Sarah Imhoff; one brother, Gary (Betty) Imhoff of Lohrville, IA; three sisters, Karen (Bob) Speich of Algona, IA; Pat (Denny) Hovinga of Laurens, IA; Linda Bethune of Storm Lake, IA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Peggy Jo Groff; brother-in-law, Bob Bethune.
