Steven L. Andresen, age 77, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Thursday,
November 3, 2022, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Neil Wehmas will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa, with Military Rites conducted by the McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Steven Lynn Andresen age 77, passed away on November 3, 2022, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa. 

Steven was the son of Harvey and Hilda “Billie” (Streck) Andresen. He was born on November 26, 1944, in Ida Grove, Iowa. On January 28, 1945, he was baptized as a child of God and later confirmed on March 22, 1959, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove. 

Growing up in Ida Grove, Steven received his education in the Ida Grove Community School District. He left home after the 10th grade and enlisted into the United States Navy. Later on, Steven would acquire his GED from the Ida Grove High School with the help of Superintendent Steven O’ Donnell and Principal John A. Montgomery. Steven served his country in the Navy for 30 years before retiring and being honorably discharged. He served during the Cold War, Vietnam War, and Gulf War. 

After his retirement from the Navy, Steven went to work for Swift & Co. for 20 years. While employed there he received excellent and safety awards all 20 years. In 2012 Steven returned to Ida Grove to help care for his mother and worked part-time for Goodenow LTD. 

A faithful member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Steven served two terms as an elder. He was active in the local American Legion up until his health started to fail. The most important things to Steven were “God, Family and Country”. 

Left to cherish his memories are his children: Steven (Kim) Andresen of Moyock, NC, James (Amy) Andresen of Barhamsville, VA, Danny (Champa) Andresen of Annandale, VA, Jennifer (Manuel) Silva of San Diego, CA and Christopher Andresen of San Diego, CA; grandchildren: Seth, Heather, Carter, Evelyn, Lavender, and Isabella; sisters Janet (Gregg) Goodenow of Ida Grove, IA and Patty (Jan) Brandhorst of Holstein, IA; along with special friends Dan Hoffman & family, and Kris Taylor all of Ida Grove, IA; many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Hilda “Billie” Andresen; and brothers Harvey James and David Allen.
