Deb Reinhart, 67, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at St. Anthony Regional Medical Center in Carroll, Iowa, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.
Deborah Jean was born on June 20, 1955, to Marvin and Joann (Fritz) Woebke in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She lived in Denison until 1962 when the family relocated to Banks, Oregon, for about a year. The family later returned to Denison. She received her education and graduated with the class of 1973 from Denison High School.
In 1971 she crossed paths with the love of her life, Kerry Reinhart, but things did not line up until March of 1972. This time they were meant to be together and were married on March 22, 1974, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. They welcomed their daughter Stephanie Jo on August 17, 1980.
Deb started working for Moore Brothers grocery in Denison and Battle Creek in 1970. In 1975 she and her mother-in-law leased the AdoRe Café in Odebolt for two years. Deb then held various jobs until 1980. At that time Dick and Jim Hoelscher called and offered her a job at the Odebolt Super Valu. She worked there for 30 plus years until it closed. After the stored closed she worked for both the Odebolt City Hall and the Odebolt Library.
Deb believed in donating her time to making Odebolt a better place. She was a founding member of the Odebolt Betterment Committee and the Iowa Rural Schools Museum. She was the secretary/treasurer for United Funds of Odebolt for over 30 years. In addition, she gave her time to the Peterson Pioneer Home, Odebolt Library Board and the Sac County Historical Society as well as many others over the years, serving as an officer on several committees. Deb was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Odebolt.
Her favorite pastime was spending time with her granddaughter, Clara. A close second was spending as much time as possible outside during the warmer months tending her expansive flower gardens and vegetable garden. She was always “adopting” plants that needed saving. Over the last five years Deb was so proud to tell folks about visiting all 99 Freedom Rocks in Iowa with Kerry. Last November she gave a presentation about their travels at the library.
Deb is survived by her husband Kerry of Odebolt, IA; daughter Steph Reinhart of Holstein, IA; granddaughter Clara Fleenor of Holstein, IA; brothers Keith Reinhart of Odebolt, Kent (Barb) Reinhart of Iowa City, IA, and Kandy Peters of Odebolt, IA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Marvin and Joann (Fritz) Woebke, and brother and sister-in-law Dan and Kris Woebke.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Odebolt Ambulance.
