In Memory of Robert "Bob" J. Alborn
Robert “Bob” Joel Alborn, age 80, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at the UnityPoint Health-St. Luke’s Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Pastor Shari O’Bannon will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa.
A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Monday, September 11, 2023, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Robert Joel “Bob” Alborn, the son of Albert and Mildred (Pieratt) Alborn, was born on January 23, 1943, in Laurens, Iowa. He grew up in and received his education from Laurens High School graduating with the class of 1961.
After high school, Bob married Susan Richards. The couple was blessed with three daughters: Tami, Bobbi and Becki. The couple later parted ways.
While living in Laurens, Bob was employed as a power lineman for the city. In 1972 he moved to Paullina, Iowa and served as the city clerk administrator until 1984. On December 28, 1985, Bob was united in marriage to Diane Klaver and the couple made their home in Ida Grove, Iowa. Bob served as the city administrator of Missouri Valley, Iowa, until his retirement in 2014.
Bob had a love for horses and in his youth, he could be found participating in rodeos. As he aged, he still enjoyed attending rodeos with bull riding being his favorite event to watch. He also enjoyed hunting, golfing, and his grandson’s Longhorn cattle. When Bob resided in Laurens and Paullina, he served as a volunteer fireman, was active in the Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Presbyterian church. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are children Tami (Glen) Scholten of Hull, IA, Bobbi (Kevin) Massmann of Paullina, IA, Kurt Campbell of Ida Grove, IA, Kristopher Campbell of Sioux City, IA and Stephen (Julie) Campbell of Colorado Springs, CO; sons-in-law Corey Hurtig of Paullina, IA and Larry Johnk of Ida Grove, IA; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Mildred Alborn; wife Diane Alborn; sister Bette (Gary) Stover; daughters Becki Enger and Kasey Johnk.
