Melanie Marie Meyer was born on March 26, 1973, along with her twin sister, Michele, to Michael and Connie (Venteicher) Collins, in Huachuca City, Arizona. Upon her father’s discharge from the military, the family moved back to Ida Grove, Iowa, where Melanie received her education at Ida Grove High School graduating with the class of 1991.

Melanie was blessed to be the mother of three children: Kristine, Taylor and Katelyn. When she became a mother, she enjoyed spending time at home raising her children. Melanie eventually became employed with The Sioux City Journal as a district manager. She and her children spent many mornings delivering the paper door to door around town.

In her free time, Melanie enjoyed reading and journaling, swimming, tending to her horses, and watching rodeos. When her children were younger, Melanie enjoyed helping them with their 4-H projects and attending the local county fair. She was a Christmas fanatic especially loving all things “The Grinch”. Most importantly, Melanie treasured spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory include her children Kristine (Zachary) Lindale of Ida Grove, IA, Taylor (Alicia) Luvaas of Cushing, IA and Katelyn (Tyler) Boock of Correctionville, IA; grandchildren Karter, Owen, Colt, Cash, Caelor, Crue, Chloe, Natalee and Shaylee; mother Connie Collins of Ida Grove, IA; twin sister Michele (Dave) Nelson of Ida Grove, IA; sister Melissa (Joe) Newman of Lawton, IA; brother Justin (Nicole) Collins of Ida Grove, IA; godmother Deb Schoenfeld of Mapleton, IA; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Mike Collins; grandparents Luella and Patrick Collins, Raymond Venteicher, Rita Venteicher Dirksen and Joe Dirksen; aunt Diane Lampe; and other extended family members.

“Oh the memories I have with this gal. She was part of the Burns Street neighborhood kids growing up. We spent many hours outside playing kickball, riding bikes, playing hide & seek, going to the pool etc. I also spent many hours babysitting at their house. We always had pleasant conversations over the years running into each other around town, bringing up our childhood memories. I felt really old when she got married and had her first baby and not to mention feeling ancient when she became a grandma. I hope her family also remembers the many, many memories they share together. Praying for peace and comfort for all! God bless”
