Reggie Horstman was born on January 5, 1961, at the Hartley Memorial Hospital of Battle Creek, Iowa, to Fred and Lorraine (Negless) Horstman, the youngest of 7 children. He graduated from Battle Creek High School with the class of 1979.
Following high school, Reggie’s love of the land was apparent as he continued farming the family farm. On March 18, 1981, Reggie was united in marriage to Lorna Maguire. From this union three children were born; Regina, Nathan, and Jessica. The family made their home in rural Battle Creek and later the couple would part ways.
On June 23, 2001, Reggie married Kelley (Whitmire) Cotton and welcomed Kelley’s three children Holly, Jonathan, and Megan. Reggie continued to farm and truck until present day. His life was cherished by so many. He always lent a helping hand, a friendly smile, and a listening ear. His children fondly remember his chocolate dumplings, skinny pancakes, his faithfulness to God, and his gentle ways.
Reggie loved the outdoors and everything that went along with it. He enjoyed the mountains, camping, hiking, and riding his bike. He also liked going for a ride on his motorcycle, woodworking, a nice cup of hot coffee and working on his acreage. Reggie’s most treasured moments were spent with his family around a campfire. He adored being a grandfather and set the standard for what a good husband and father could be.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Kelley Horstman of Ida Grove, IA; children Regina (Robert) Mosley of Omaha, NE, Nathan (girlfriend Melinda Peters) Horstman of Battle Creek, IA, Jessica (Justin) Reinard of Omaha, NE, Holly (Brent) Paulsen of Slater, IA, Jonathan Cotton of West Des Moines, IA, Megan (Jason) Dudley of Misawa, Japan; grandchildren: Clara and Ethan Mosley, Sophia and Olivia Paulsen, Milo Cotton, Alex, Savien, Lily, and Miles Dudley; siblings Sharon Sanford of Sioux City, IA, Theresa Uhl of Sioux City, IA, Myrna (Bob) Uhl of Battle Creek, IA, Marty (Ann) Horstman of Battle Creek, IA, Connie (Greg) Horn of Fort Dodge, IA and Sheila (Ed) Ipsen of Branson, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
