Sandra “Sandy” Schreiber, age 79, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Neil Wehmas will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2025, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Sandra Kay “Sandy” Schreiber, the daughter of Virgil L. and Lois Lorraine (Lewis) Bottjen, was born on October 19, 1945, in Sioux City, Iowa. She grew up in the Anthon, Iowa, area and received her education from Anthon-Oto High School graduating with the class of 1963.

From her first marriage to Fritz Yockey, Sandy was blessed with two children, son Scott and daughter Terri. The couple would later part ways. On December 5, 1992, she was united in marriage to Al Schreiber at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. She welcomed his two sons, Judd and Andy, to their blended family. Sandy was employed at the Home Elevator in Battle Creek, Iowa, from 1972 until her retirement in 2005.                         

Sandy enjoyed playing cards, golfing, tending to her flowers, attending sporting events, driving her scooter, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. She also enjoyed participating in Terrific Tuesdays and Thirsty Thursdays with a nice cold screwdriver in her hand, “You always have to have two, because you can’t fly with one wing.”

Left to cherish her memory include her husband Al Schreiber of Ida Grove, IA; children Scott (Connie) Yockey of Anthon, IA, Terri (Mark) Green of Bonner Springs, KS, Judd (Kim) Schreiber of Battle Creek, IA and Andy (Saffire Gill) Schreiber of Ida Grove, IA; 7 grandchildren: Christopher (Bree) Yockey, Justin (Megan) Yockey, Kassondra (Kaleb Hightower) Green, Austin (Tasha Schreiber, Autumn (Bryce Kafton) Schreiber, Madison Schreiber, and Sydney Schreiber; 6 great-grandchildren: Rylee, Lucas, Teddy, Abi, Charolette, and Carleigh; sister Madonna (Terry) Moss of McLean, NE; brother Michael (Glenda) Bottjen of Primghar, IA; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Virgil and Lorraine Bottjen; granddaughter MaKayla Schreiber; niece and nephew Ivy and Todd Clausen; niece Tammie Bottjen; aunt and uncle Duane and Vernie Schubert.
