In Memory of Jerry R. Bendixen

Jerry R. Bendixen, age 83, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on March 31, 2026, at the Willow Dales Wellness Village of Battle Creek, Iowa.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 6, 2026, in the Morgan Township Cemetery of Schleswig, Iowa.

Jerry Ray Bendixen, the son of Raymond J. and Gladys C. (Janssen) Bendixen, was born on December 13, 1942, in Carroll, Iowa. He was raised in the Schleswig, Iowa, area and received his education from Schleswig High School. 

Jerry spent most of his career working as an electrician. Later in life, he continued his education at WITCC, studying heating and cooling. Over the years, he made his home in Schleswig, Odebolt, and Ida Grove, Iowa, and also spent some time living in Texas. After retiring, he returned to Ida Grove. Jerry was the proud father of six children: Kenneth, James, Daniel, Robert, John, and Kristina. 

One of Jerry’s greatest joys was his beloved dog, Sparky. He also enjoyed camping and spending time outdoors. Jerry had a passion for collecting “stuff” and could often be found browsing garage sales and thrift stores. He loved dancing as well and occasionally took part in competitions.

Survivors include his children Kenneth (Belinda) Bendixen of Madison, SD, James (Valarie) Bendixen of Odebolt, IA, Daniel (Cory) Bendixen of Holstein, IA, Robert (Sandi) Bendixen of Holstein, IA, John (River) Bendixen of Early, IA and Kristina (Curt) Bendixen-Faist of Sac City, IA; 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Gladys Bendixen; sister Arliss Todd; and great-granddaughter Addyson Hicks.
