In Memory of Kathryn Lee Spotts

Kathryn Lee Spotts, age 86, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

Private Family Services will be held in the Ida Grove Methodist Church in Ida Grove, Iowa, with Reverend LuAnn Benge officiating. Committal Services will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery in Ida Grove, Iowa.

Kathryn Lee Spotts took her Lord and Savior’s hand on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, with her loved ones by her side, at the age of 86, in Sioux City, Iowa. 

Born to Hugh and Laura (Clark) Sweet on November 16, 1939, Kathryn was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and raised in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1956, the family relocated to Ida Grove, Iowa and Kathryn graduated with the class of 1958, from Ida Grove High School.

On June 22, 1958, Kathryn married Robert Samuel Spotts in the First United Methodist Church in Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple made their home in Ida Grove and Kathryn became involved in the family business as a bookkeeper for Spotts Brothers Dray and Transfer. The couple raised their children and celebrated 62 years together before Robert’s passing in 2021.

Kathyrn was an active member of the United Methodist Women and served on numerous committees within the Methodist Church. Kathryn enjoyed: singing in the choir, making calls to organize food donations, delivering meals on wheels, lining up workers for various events and the opportunity to visit with others. She was also an active member of the Ida Grove Rebekah Lodge 264.

In her spare time, Kathryn loved a good game of BINGO, a quiet day with a book, and traveling.

Survivors include her daughters and their spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband Robert, parents, parents-in-law, and other family members.
